Who We Are

About Project Libertad

Welcome to Project Libertad!
We're glad you're here.

At Project Libertad, we believe that every newcomer immigrant youth deserves the opportunity to thrive. Our mission is to empower these young individuals and their families by providing essential legal and social services, tailored to their unique needs and led by the youth themselves.

Our History
Project Libertad was founded in 2015 by our current Executive Director, Rachel Rutter, a dedicated advocate for immigrant youth. With a vision to empower newcomer immigrant youth and their families, Rachel developed Project Libertad as a response to the growing need for targeted support and resources in the community. Since its inception, the organization has grown exponentially, providing essential legal and social services to hundreds of young people and their families. Under Rachel's leadership, Project Libertad has received recognition for its innovative approach and commitment to empowering immigrant youth, solidifying its position as a leader in the field. Today, we continue to build on our history, expanding our services and deepening our impact in the lives of those we serve.

Our Mission and Vision
Project Libertad is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that empowers newcomer immigrant youth and their families by providing essential, youth-led, and youth-centered legal and social services.

We envision a world where all newcomer immigrant youth have access to the legal services, social services, academic support, and leadership opportunities needed to thrive.

Our Approach
We take a holistic approach to supporting newcomer immigrant youth, providing a range of services that address their legal, social, academic, and leadership development needs. Our services are designed to be youth-led and youth-centered, recognizing the unique strengths and perspectives of the young people we serve.
